Dr Threapleton is a specialty registrar in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics and General Internal Medicine at St George's Hospital in London. He is an honorary lecturer in Clinical Pharmacology at St George's, University of London.He is currently undertaking a PhD to research how to improve the management of patients with complex polypharmacy and multimorbidity, and how clinical pharmacologists could best support fellow healthcare professionals in primary and secondary care.In his clinical role, Dr Threapleton set up and runs an outpatient Polypharmacy Service at St George's Hospital and treats acutely unwell inpatients in the Acute Medical Unit.As part of a small team, he set up the UK's first Clinical Pharmacology BSc.Dr Threapleton is Chair of the Registrar Sub-Committee of the BPS, responsible for shaping the training of, and recruitment to, Clinical Pharmacology as a medical specialty. He is a member of the Clinical Committee and the Clinical Pharmacology Skills Alliance, a collaboration to raise visibility, support training, develop partnerships, and take responsibility for the stewardship of clinical pharmacology in the UK.
